IV. Scholarship Coverage

(I) Full Silk Road Scholarship

1. Tuition waiver;

2. Ten-month accommodation fee exempted;

3. Ten-month stipend: 1,500 CNY/month.

(II) Half Silk Road Scholarship

1. Tuition waiver;

2. Ten-month accommodation fee exempted.

V. Fees Need to be Paid

1. Registration fee: 400 CNY;

2. Comprehensive medical insurance: 800 CNY/academic year;

3. Books: according to the actual situation;

4. Accommodation fees of July and August : 1,000 CNY/month.

VI. Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:

1. be a citizen of a country other than the PRC with a valid passport and in good health both mentally and physically ( An applicant who was originally a Chinese citizen but have acquired a foreign nationality should meet the conditions set by the Document No.83 (2009) issued by Ministry of Education of the PRC);

2. be an academically excellent holder of high school diploma or its equivalent at the age between 17 and 25 when applying for an undergraduate program (An applicant under the age of 18 should provide guardianship certificate);

be an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent at the age between 20 and 28 when applying for a Master’s program;

be an academically excellent holder of a Master’s degree or its equivalent at the age between 20 and 35 when applying for a doctoral program;  

3. have no violation of the laws and regulations of the PRC and the rules of LJU;

4. be non-beneficiary of any other scholarship;

5. have passed the HSK (Level 4) with scores of 200 or above (It is suggested that an applicant with inadequate language proficiency to take one-year self-financed Chinese language program at LJU first. An applicant who complete the Chinese language program, pass HSK4 with required scores and the annual review will be preferably considered for the scholarship);

6. have no academic warning or drop-out warning.  

VII. Application Period

January 1st to June 30th, 2024

VIII. Application System and Application Documents

(I) Application System of LJU:

(II) Application Documents:

1. The passport information page within the validity period;

2. The visa page and records of entering and leaving China, if any;

3. Diploma and certificate of highest education (notarized photocopy). An applicant who is a current university student shall submit the certificate of expected graduation or student status issued by his/her university;

4. Academic transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;

5. Certificate of language proficiency:a valid HSK4 certificate with scores of 200 or above;

6. a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (For the form, please refer to Appendix 2). The original document, printed by Chinese quarantine authorities, shall be filled in in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Medical examination results are valid for only six months;

7. A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 500 words/characters);

8. Two recommendation letters. An applicant for a Master’s or doctoral degree program shall submit two recommendation letters in Chinese or in English from professors or associate professors;

9. Certified documents of social activities;

10. A valid Certificate of Non-Criminal Record (or Police Clearance Certificate) issued by the local public security (such as the police station), usually issued within six months prior to the submission date of the application;

11. An applicant under the age of 18 shall submit the legal documents of his/her legal guardian(s) in China.  

IX. Admission and Enrollment

(I) Check your Email or login on your LJU online application account to track your application status. Make sure your email address is correct and check your email occasionally, you will receive some important information, e.g. the arrangement of interview etc.

Except under special circumstances, the scholarship evaluation committee will review all of the application documents at least once a month from March to June. After the evaluation, the nominated candidates will be decided. Applicants will be informed of the results by email.

(II) Successfully admitted candidates should confirm your offer through email within 10 working days. Log on the application system of LJU to pay for the registration fee 400 CNY online (The registration fee is not refundable). If candidates do not confirm or fail to pay the registration fee in time, the admission offer will be regarded invalid.

(III) Once payment is made, the E-version of The Admission Notice of LJU (in Chinese & English)  will be sent by Email in 15-20 working days. The admission notice shall be downloaded, printed and signed by candidates themselves. Visit http://www.studyinchina.edu.cn and enter personal information to download the E-version of The Visa Application Form (JW202).

If the paper version of The Admission Notice of LJU (in Chinese & English) is required, please send Email to isoadmission@lzjtu.edu.cn and state the reason. Whether to be sent by express depends on the real situation.    

(IV) International student insurance must be purchased before entering China. Choose 800 yuan plan and complete payment on the website https://www.lxbx.net/. For the procedure of online payment, please refer to Appendix 3. After successfully paying, please send the PDF file of List of insurance information for foreigner staying in China to isoadmission@lzjtu.edu.cn. Those who do not pay for insurance as required will not be registered.

(V) Enrollment period usually starts from late August to early September. Specific dates of enrollment will be written on the Admission Notice. All the admitted students should register within the time limit specified in The Admission Notice. Original application documents are required for freshman registration. The admission offer will be regarded invalid if students fail to register two weeks beyond the required enrollment period.

X. Annual Review

(I) Scholarship students will be reviewed in each academic year. Based on assessment results, students who receive full Silk Road Scholarship and half Silk Road Scholarship are determined.  

(II) For those whose scholarship are canceled, they will become a self-financed student from September of next academic year. All of fees will be at their own expenses.
